In five years, every company will do content marketing.

Start now and be five years ahead.

Content marketing is a fancy digital term that means, in plain English, “share knowledge with your audience.”

At Rubin Communications Group, the decision to create a blog (see our blog here) and leverage our PR/marketing insight has taken our website to #1 in a critical Google search and allowed us to communicate with our immediate network in a more meaningful way.

And here’s the kicker: content marketing is FREE.

You don’t need to buy pricey ads in newspapers and magazines. All it takes is a consistent plan to “share knowledge” and answer questions about the work you do. Those answers, in turn, build trust and credibility with your audience.

At RCG, we enjoy helping clients develop rock-solid “content marketing” plans. We first sit down with your staff and understand your business and audience. Then, we map out a clear, attainable plan to ensure you offer valuable content month by month in a variety of ways (ex: blog posts, e-newsletter).

A one-hour content conversation with RCG could change the way you market your company forever.

CBDA, meet “content marketing.”

On Thursday, June 19, RCG’s Danny Rubin held a 20-minute presentation on the importance of content marketing for company websites.

The discussion happened directly after a luncheon for the Central Business District Association (CBDA) at the Westin Virginia Beach Town Center in the Viceroy room, which is adjacent to the main room for the luncheon.

What did Danny talk about?

Through a focused, engaging presentation, Danny explained the importance of “content marketing,” which is fast becoming the industry standard marketing model. With a solid “content” strategy in place, your business will separate itself from the competition and strengthen its trust and credibility with clients and customers.

See you Wednesday!

RCG team members may not always make our beds in the morning, but now we’re thinking twice after a speech from Naval Adm. William McRaven.

In his recent commencement speech at the University of Texas at Austin, McRaven shares poignant lessons from his decorated naval career. It all starts with the first chore of the day. “Making the bed is a little task that reinforces how the little things in life matter,” says McRaven.

Since its upload on May 19, 2014, the video of McRaven’s address has gone viral — over 1.6 million views in just two weeks.  (more…)

Let’s give credit where credit is due: that big yellow bath toy was one of the best visitors to Hampton Roads in a long, long time. If you don’t know what we’re talking about, you’ve obviously been “ducking” out on TV and social media.

We’re talking about Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman’s Rubber Duck sculpture seen floating in the Hague Inlet from May 17-26. The large-scale work of art was here to help celebrate the reopening of The Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk.

Joel began Rubin Communications in 1991 after a 15-year broadcasting career. His connections to local reporters and editors, as well as government and business leaders, made for a natural transition into a career in public relations.

It’s been nearly 25 years and many (many!) more clients since the beginning of Rubin Communications. To have a little fun with this week’s blog, we took a trip down memory lane and compiled an alphabetical listing of some our past and current clients. The easy part was finding the clients to match the letter; the hard part was deciding just which project or client to highlight. (more…)

Every Monday morning, our staff sits down with coffee, breakfast and ideas. We take turns going around the table and discussing where we are on projects, what’s on the grid for this week and what we can do for our clients.

This week we happened upon the topic of a recent PR Tactics article about Corporate Social Responsibility, which is a company’s obligation to conduct its business in a manner that positively impacts its community. At RCG, we take this role seriously; each of us volunteers our public relations knowledge for pro-bono work.

The trend in marketing and PR today is to lean heavily on “big data” and use every analytic tool in sight to maximize, optimize and fine tune a campaign. At RCG, we rely on Facebook insights and Google Analytics to show us which posts do the best and how we can increase engagement on clients’ web and social media pages.

When it comes to ROI for traditional PR, the answers aren’t always so cut and dry. How does a client know the investment is worth it?
