Zero’s to Launch First WINDSday Themed Sandwich on September 1 at 10:30 am

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Zero’s, started in 1967 in Virginia Beach, is today one of the largest regional food franchises in the country with 30 restaurants across the state and even one in Bristol, TN.

Company president Marty Palacios is taking Zero’s famous tuna sub and adapting it to the culture of clean energy, green environment and the power of wind that the WINDSdays campaign is promoting. “We have wrapped our sustainably caught tuna, lettuce and tomato and are calling it The WINDSday Wrap,” says Marty, who will kick off the new item with a launch event on WINDSday September 1 at 10:30am at Zero’s iconic store at 632 Virginia Beach Blvd. (17th Street) near the oceanfront.

Franchisee Mark Stevens helped create the WINDSday Wrap and is thrilled to see it go up on the menu, not just at his location but at the other 12 in Virginia Beach along with the 13 in Norfolk, Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, Portsmouth and Suffolk. “Offshore wind is a going to be a boon for this entire region, and we want to show our support,” says Stevens, a much honored local businessman in the community surrounding his location. “When Marty and WINDSdays’ Joel Rubin came to my place, we immediately agreed on the ingredients and will serve it cold, meaning it’s a ‘low power’ made product. I hope it’s a big seller and conveys a positive message.”

About WINDSdays
The goal of WINDSdays, the marketing platform for the Mayor’s Commission on Offshore Wind and Clean Energy, is to build a culture around clean energy, a green environment and the power of wind in advance of two major windfarms slated for off the coasts of Virginia Beach (Dominion Energy) and Kitty Hawk, NC. (Avangrid Renewables). To do so, it is encouraging organizations in the public and private sectors to stage programs, create communications and products, offer business incentives and conduct other activities on WINDSdays, formerly Wednesdays, or other days if more suitable.
