Virginia Beach Community Development Corporation Hosts Grand Opening of “The Spot at Lake Edward,” a Safe Space for the Neighborhood

WHAT: The Virginia Beach Community Development Corporation is hosting the grand opening of The Spot at Lake Edward, a new space that serves as a neighborhood hub for families. The goal of the townhouse, located at the end of a cul-de-sac on Pickering Street in Virginia Beach, is to engage neighbors, strengthen community bonds and provide a safe and secure environment for all residents.

Activities at The Spot may include book club meetings, technology classes for seniors, adult literacy tutoring, mentoring, health and nutrition initiatives and peer support groups. “The Spot” is designed to host gatherings of around 10 individuals.

The event coincides with the launch of the organization’s major gifts campaign, which funds all projects, including those at The Spot.

WHEN: Tuesday, May 9 from 1:00PM – 2:00PM; Media and invited guests are welcome to tour the space

WHERE: The Spot at Lake Edward, 5865 Pickering Street, Virginia Beach; All parking for the event will be provided at Heritage United Methodist Church (715 Baker Rd). Shuttles will provide transportation to and from The Spot from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m.
