TowneBank to Officially Open First Office in North Carolina Triad on January 9

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TowneBank is inviting civic and business leaders in the Triad to an official grand opening of its first office in the region. A brief ceremony and reception will take place on January 9 at 5:30 p.m. at the branch located at 802 Green Valley Road in Greensboro. News media is invited to attend. At the event, Towne will announce recipients of monetary grants to two local non-profits.

“We chose the Triad because we believe it is a growing area with active businesses and engaged residents who are looking for a local bank that serves others and enriches lives,” says G. Robert Aston, Jr., Executive Chairman and CEO of the 20-year old financial institution. Towne now has 42 offices from Hampton Roads to Richmond, Virginia and from Charlotte to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. “We have assembled a great team in the Triad,” says Aston, “and expect to expand our presence into High Point and Winston Salem over the next several years. I know that the community appreciates seeing a new company come to the market that is upbeat about its economic potential and eager to make a positive impact in the community.”

That team includes TowneBank Triad President Scott Baker, who brings 26 years of experience in banking, the last ten in the Triad, to his new post. “I am thrilled on behalf of our citizens in the Greensboro area that Towne decided to come here, and I am so pleased to have the opportunity to be at the ground floor of that expansion,” says Baker, who previously managed commercial banking for First Citizens Bank. “We will provide personal, business and private banking as well as mortgage, insurance, and wealth management services out of the Green Valley Road office.”

Baker heads up a team of eleven professionals in the field, over half of whom grew up in the Triad. David Burris is the office manager. “Our team not only understands the potential for business growth, but they also know who and what is propelling it,” says Baker. “Key drivers include downtown, the Airport, logistics, technology and transportation. Because the Triad is situated on the busy I-85, I-40 corridor and with the neighboring Raleigh and Charlotte areas booming, it is poised to prosper along with them.”

TowneBank became a contributing corporate citizen in the Triad even before the soft opening of the Greensboro office in November. Towne was a title sponsor of the North Carolina Folk Festival in 2019 and according to Baker intends to resume that involvement with an announcement expected later in the year. “We have also hosted or sponsored a variety of initiatives including with the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce (Launch Greensboro), Bikes for Kids with Guilford County Public Schools, Senior Resources of Guilford County and a Fellowship of Christian Athletes banquet in Greensboro that will be in April 2020,” says Baker. “Towne is a major supporter of community organizations and causes in the communities it serves, and that will be the case here as well.”

The nine-member Board of Directors of TowneBank Triad, which includes a diverse group of recognized local individuals, will advise leadership on both commercial and philanthropic activities. Chairman Jason Harris of Furnitureland South is excited to be onboard. “Towne is so high touch and high involvement,” says Harris. “I am eager to share their story with people I know and my fellow board members feel the same way.”

“The entire Towne family looks forward to making new friends on January 9 throughout the Triad,” says Bob Aston. “We feel like we’re in the right place at the right time.”
