These programs are designed for business owners, CFOs, CEOs, HR professionals, Employee Benefits administrators, and office managers. Corbin Granger, Compliance Training Specialist, says different requirements apply based on the size of each company’s workforce. “Regardless of the size and nature of the business, a company needs to understand the ACA and its requirements, inform and notify employees about important deadlines, review existing plans and make informed choices to provide optimal employee coverage.”
In addition to the seminars, Granger also says employers need to be aware of other important DEADLINES which are just around the corner:
Early Renewal Decisions from the Employer Side
Small groups under 50 employees can elect for early renewal so that they can delay any impacts of healthcare reform until December 2014. “Employers can decide,” says Granger, “whether to do early renewal depending on whether the new rates look better or worse for them. Early renewal for Anthem Employer Groups is December 1.”
Medicare Creditable Coverage Certification
On November 15, 2013 employers must go online and certify whether their plans are creditable or not. The requirement is to complete the Online Disclosure to CMS Form to report the creditable coverage status of the company prescription drug plan. The Disclosure should be completed annually, no later than 60 days from the beginning of a plan year (contract year, renewal year), within 30 days after termination of a prescription drug plan, or within 30 days after any change in creditable coverage status.
Rolling Renewals
As each employer group renews, employees can enroll individually on the first of the month following 60 days of employment.
