Rueger Joins TowneBank Executive Management

Suffolk, Va. – TowneBank is pleased to welcome Thomas V. Rueger as Senior Executive Vice President.   He will be headquartered at TowneBank’s Pavilion office in Virginia Beach.

Rueger will work to develop future strategies for the growth of the Towne family of companies and assist with the execution of localized banking strategies.  In addition, he will serve on the Executive Management Committee, as well as the Credit Policy Committee, and both the Norfolk and Virginia Beach boards of TowneBank.

A lifelong Hampton Roads resident, he has had an extraordinary banking career that has spanned 44 years.  Rueger most recently served as President and CEO of SunTrust, Hampton Roads. A graduate of Washington & Lee University, he has spent his entire career dedicated to hometown banking and enhancing the quality of life in our community.  He currently serves on the boards of various organizations, including the Eastern Virginia Medical School Board of Trustees and the Virginia Arts Festival. In addition, he previously served in numerous leadership and volunteer capacities.  He is past board member of the Chrysler Museum, Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, Hampton Roads Partnership, Virginia Beach Vision and the Virginia Maritime Association.
