D.J. “Jimmy” Rogers — known in Hampton Roads for distributing wine, beer and liquor — is now venturing into the home-building supply business.

Newtown Building Supplies Inc. launched after Rogers saw a chance to revitalize a company that was losing some business, according to a news release.

“We had some quality project managers and installers from the Newtown Window and Door/Greenwich Building Supply days and have hired more,” Rogers said in the release. “We are now building back the business, one customer at a time.”

Rogers and his family sold the remaining half of their beverage alcohol company, Associated Distributors, to partner The Charmer Sunbelt Group in December 2012, according to a news release. In 2013, Rogers seized the opportunity to buy Newtown Window and Door, formerly Greenwich Supply Corp.

He leased the company’s former warehouse and offices at 5789 Arrowhead Drive in Virginia Beach, renovated and created a showroom with business partner Dave Lieberg.

Newtown Building Supplies represents national suppliers like United Window and Door, Weather Shield, Masonite, Sunrise Windows, Heartland Siding by ProVia, The Tapco Group, Legacy Products, Hy-Lite, The Foundry, Dyke Industries and Rehau/Eco Windows.
