MIDLOTHIAN, VA – On Thursday, Sept. 17, the Roc Solid Foundation and volunteers from Keller Williams Midlothian will surprise (almost) 2-year-old Clair Drennan and her family with a brand new playset in their backyard. Clair is currently battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond.
Volunteers will gather at Clair’s house (13610 Velvet Antler Run, Midlothian, VA 23112) in the morning while she and her family are taken by limo to breakfast and an activity of Clair’s choice. When the family returns home at 12:30 p.m., they will be surprised with a new custom playset and will join the group of volunteers from Roc Solid and Keller Williams Midlothian for a backyard picnic.
Founded in 2009 by pediatric cancer survivor, Eric Newman, the Roc Solid Foundation has become known for its many efforts to support children battling cancer as well as their families. Their flagship program, Play It Forward, is best known for room remodels and playset builds and has completed over 120 projects throughout the southeastern United States.
“The treatments these kids undergo are intense, leaving them with little time and energy to enjoy playing like most kids do on a daily basis,” says Newman. “It’s our goal to give hope to these children by allowing them to be carefree for the day, and the smiles we see make it all worthwhile.”
Keller Williams Midlothian spokes person and Market Center team leader Kathy Edwards stated “We are honored to be a part of bringing hope and positive change to families in our community. We strongly believe that ‘culture’ is a vital part of our business, and our business model strongly supports: Giving where we live and working to serve others that are in need.”
