April 22, 2019 (Norfolk, Va.) – Imagine the energy generated by 2,000
18-year olds looking ahead excitedly to high school graduation and to their next step in life, college.
Nearly 2,000 local high school seniors, many the first in their families to be able to continue their education, will converge on the floor of The Ted Constant Center at Old Dominion University. Prompted from the stage by popular local DJ Shaggy, they will clap, stomp and cheer for each other, making the fourth annual College Commitment Day, sponsored by Access College Foundation, one of the loudest and most visual events of the year.
Sporting signs identifying the schools they will attend in the fall, the students will hear uplifting messages and express gratitude for the assistance Access provided to secure grants, scholarships and other financial aid necessary to afford higher education. Local superintendents, donors, partners, colleges, and community leaders will also be in attendance. The public can watch the event streamed live on ACCESS’ Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/ACCESSCollegeFoundation) and search the event’s hashtag #IGotIn2019 on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
