Virginia Beach, Va. – The Virginia Beach Rescue Squad Foundation recently named John M. “Bruddy” Baillio the 2014 Gilpin Distinguished Service Award recipient at the 63rd Annual Awards Banquet on January 10th. The award was instituted in 2005 to recognize individuals whose outstanding actions and activities have helped to strengthen and enhance the volunteer rescue squad system in Virginia Beach.
Baillio began serving as Treasurer of the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad Foundation more than ten years ago, managing its finances as it grew more than eight-fold nearly overnight.
“Bruddy has been a steadfast and significant force in the advancement of the Virginia Beach rescue squad system,” said Kitty Schaum, Executive Director of the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad Foundation. “His unwavering commitment to its growth is a true asset to every Virginia Beach squad.”
