Habitat for Humanity to Provide Construction Assistance on Home for Navy Veteran Seabee from Chesapeake

Habitat for Humanity of South Hampton Roads is proud to take part in a special community event on Tuesday, June 4th in Chesapeake from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. (1223 Keats Street).

A collection of volunteers from Habitat for Humanity of South Hampton Roads, Home Depot, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the Hampton Roads REALTORS Association (HRRA) and Casone Enterprises will come together to repair the home of Brandi Jones. The single mother is a Navy Veteran Seabee who completed deployments in Japan and Puerto Rico.

HSHR “Red Hats,” a core of experienced volunteer builders, will provide onsite supervisory assistance while volunteers complete a host of repairs including:

• New roof
• New windows
• Remove old bathroom flooring, toilets, vanities and lighting fixtures to replace with new ones
• Remove old kitchen and install new cabinets, dishwasher, counter tops and all new appliances
• Lay new flooring throughout the house
• Install recessed can lights in kitchen and living room and replace fixtures throughout
• New closet doors throughout the home
• Paint the interior of the house, including the ceiling
• HVAC professionally serviced
• Spruce up the outside with pressure washing the house, professional landscaping, painting the shed and provide a play area for the children
