Habitat for Humanity Family to Move into New Home on Christmas Eve

NORFOLK, VA (December 18, 2018) — Habitat for Humanity of South Hampton Roads (Habitat SHR) and Housing Hampton Roads are proud to welcome the Boone family into its new “Habitat” home on Christmas Eve 2018.

The new home is on 908 Lake Kennedy Drive in Suffolk. It’s the final house in a nine-home cluster built through Habitat SHR over the past three years. Once the Boones move in, all nine homes will have Habitat homeowners.

Until now, Lori Boone and her daughter, Kiana, lived with Lori’s mother in the mother’s two-bedroom house in Suffolk. Lori has worked for the past 18 years as an administrative coordinator for the City of Portsmouth’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Leisure Services.

Kiana is a student at Norfolk State University.

“It’s always special when a new Habitat family moves in, but it’s extra special to have it happen on Christmas Eve,” said Frank Hruska, the executive director of Habitat SHR. “This is the season for giving thanks, and we are so grateful to our many community partners and volunteers who made the final home on Lake Kennedy Drive a reality.”

Media is invited to visit the home at 1 p.m. on Christmas Eve to capture footage of the family moving in. Please call Danny Rubin at 757-285-7617 before you visit so the family can expect you.
