 Guadalajara’s Restaurant at Virginia Beach Town Center will have a going away party this Sunday, June 30 from 4pm until closing, which will be no later than midnight.

Owner Jerry Rodriguez and his staff will be on hand to meet and serve customers and provide special giveaways.  “We want to say thank you to all of our longtime patrons and friends for their loyalty and support over the past twenty years,” says Rodriguez.  Guadalajara’s once had several locations in Hampton Roads, but the Columbus Street restaurant is the last one. Virginia Beach, Va. – On June 13, the Hampton Roads Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) held its annual Pinnacle Awards ceremony recognizing the best public relations programs and tactics in the region.

Joel Rubin, president of Rubin Communications Group, was recognized with the newly renamed P. Lee Starkey Public Relations Practitioner of the Year award. Starkey, the chapter’s first Public Relations Practitioner of the Year, passed away in 2012. He was described as “a patriot, a gentleman and the father of public relations in Hampton Roads.” His wife, Earlene, attended the luncheon and presented the award to Rubin. (more…)

For the first time, four Virginia Beach squads will be partnering on a fundraising effort during EMS Week, which takes place May 19 – 25. The four squads include Chesapeake Beach, Kempsville, Princess Anne Courthouse and Virginia Beach. (more…)

CINCINNATI – April 29, 2013 – Thousands of online votes have been tallied in the 2nd Annual Cintas & Carhartt Cold Crew contest to uncover his year’s winners, and local cattle rancher Dawn Martin has placed third.

During calving season, Dawn bundles up in her Carhartt gear every two hours to check on her cattle in freezing temperatures, bringing newborn calves into the barn immediately after they are born. Dawn also cares for more than 900 other animals on her ranch in North Dakota. “Ranching is a tough way of life, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything,” says Dawn.

James Tatem, an arborist foreman from Hooksett, NH has been named the grand prize winner, and Dave Bensette, a mail carrier from Tecumseh, Ontario, placed second. (more…)

RICHMOND, VA — With diabetes and oral cancer on the rise nationwide and high blood pressure a continuing concern, the Virginia Dental Association (VDA) is commencing a major consumer education program on the value of screenings to detect these conditions.

The VDA is airing television ads (click here) and conducting a public information project statewide. The campaign will inform Virginians about the importance of good oral health and also the role that dentists can play in detecting early warning signs of a variety of health issues including diabetes, oral cancer and high blood pressure.  The “Want a Healthy Body? Start With a Healthy Mouth” campaign encourages viewers to visit www.vadental.org to find a VDA dentist in their area.  “Going to the dentist isn’t just about taking good care of your teeth,” states the ad, “it’s about taking good care of your health.” (more…)

He will be sent on an all-expenses-paid trip for two to the CMA Music Festival June 6 – 9 in Nashville, TN.

Dave Bensette, a mail carrier from Tecumseh, Ontario, and Dawn Martin, a cattle rancher from Beulah, ND were named second and third place winners and will each receive $50 in Carhartt merchandise for their participation.
