For nearly a decade, the brothers have worked together – and separately – at the business their father built.

Eric Kline joined Payday Payroll, which provides payroll processing and human resources services, in 2002. He started in sales. For the past four years he’s been director of business development, cultivating clients locally and beyond.

His younger brother Danny came on in 2006 as a payroll processor. He rose to become president last year, taking over Payday from their father, Andy.

Eric and Danny Kline will part ways – amicably – next year. (more…)

A subsidiary of Suffolk-based TowneBank has acquired three insurance agencies, expanding the company’s footprint in central Virginia.

Towne Insurance has added Chesterfield-based Invincia Insurance Solutions, Midlothian-based Total Insurance Planning and B.H. Baird Insurance, based in Warsaw, to its portfolio, the company said. The agencies will not change their names, leadership or locations. (more…)

Virginia Beach, Va. – The 20th annual India Fest, hosted by the Asian Indians of Hampton Roads (AIHR), will take place at the Virginia Beach Convention Center on Saturday, Nov. 14 from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. The event is expected to draw 10,000 or more attendees.

Admission and parking at India Fest is free and includes Bollywood dance performances, fashion shows, and an Indian bazaar with clothing, jewelry and other vendors. Children can participate in essay writing, poetry, art and science competitions; more information about these contests can be found at www.aihr.org. That premise underlies the principle of regional cooperation, on economic development or anything else. All the leaders of all the cities of Hampton Roads pledge at least notional allegiance to that cause.

MIDLOTHIAN, Va. – All children want to run and play, but that is hard do when you’re battling cancer. That’s why some local angels spent the day creating a fun zone in a Midlothian child’s backyard. Three-year-old Claire Drennan is undergoing cancer treatments as she battles acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, but the volunteers gave her a reason to smile today.

They surprised her with something she can play with for years to come, but the gift will also help with her rehabilitation as she fights for life.

On this Thursday morning a group of about 30 volunteers got together for the special cause to surprise Claire with a new playset. (more…)

MIDLOTHIAN, VA – On Thursday, Sept. 17, the Roc Solid Foundation and volunteers from Keller Williams Midlothian will surprise (almost) 2-year-old Clair Drennan and her family with a brand new playset in their backyard. Clair is currently battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond.

Volunteers will gather at Clair’s house (13610 Velvet Antler Run, Midlothian, VA 23112) in the morning while she and her family are taken by limo to breakfast and an activity of Clair’s choice. When the family returns home at 12:30 p.m., they will be surprised with a new custom playset and will join the group of volunteers from Roc Solid and Keller Williams Midlothian for a backyard picnic.
