OUTLET: Coast Live

We had fun this morning tagging along with our client, The Zeiders American Dream Theater, as two team theater members appeared on Coast Live on WTKR Newschannel 3.

This weekend (October 5-7) is THE weekend for “The Z” — the grand opening of the theater and the inaugural Proteus Festival, a three-day celebration of music, arts and film.

NORFOLK, Va. – TFC Recycling has decided to terminate its contract to collect the city’s curbside recycling. In a press release, the company cited challenges from new Chinese rules that make it tougher to import recycled materials with high contamination.

TFC collects recycling from Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Suffolk, but Norfolk’s contract allowed TFC to opt out with 90 days notice. Now the city is looking for a new contract, so by November a different company could be picking up the blue bins. (more…)

Virginia Beach, VA – For the sixth consecutive year, Richmond Ballet, The State Ballet of Virginia, will return to Chrysler Hall with a beloved holiday tradition, The Nutcracker, December 7-9, 2018.

Dance students from across Hampton Roads and North Carolina will be cast for student roles in The Nutcracker; last year’s production featured students from 33 local dance studios. Auditions will be held August 26 and September 9 at Old Donation School as part of the Ballet’s new partnership with the state-of-the-art performing arts school. Students who are cast will participate in weekly rehearsals at Old Donation School on Sundays, October 7 through December 2. The student cast will have the unique opportunity to perform alongside the Company’s professional dancers and musicians from the Virginia Symphony Orchestra for four public performances and one youth performance.

144 students received scholarships at ACCESS College Foundation’s 2018 Scholarship Awards Luncheon, held at the Virginia Beach Convention Center on June 20. Keynote speakers were Darryl Bell, actor from ‘90s sitcom A Different World, and former ACCESS scholar turned Harvard Law grad, Gwen Green. Scholarship amounts ranged from $5,000 to $25,000. ACCESS, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, has helped over 60,000 public high school students in South Hampton Roads and Northampton County find a path to college, and awarded more than $9 million in scholarships. For more information, visit www.accesscollege.org.

WHAT: Access College Foundation, which aids public school students with their college admission and financial aid processes in South Hampton Roads and Northampton County, will award 144 local high school graduates with scholarships during its 2018 annual luncheon. The total scholarship amount is $800,000.

NEWPORT NEWS, VA (June 7, 2018) – Fairlead Integrated, a leading supplier of electrical, mechanical, fabricated products, and maritime services announces plans to build a new facility and large fabrication platen in Newport News.

The investments to its Newport News facilities will increase Fairlead Integrated’s fabrication and repair footprint and allow the Hampton Roads-based company to prepare for an increased demand from military customers for large fabrications and vessel repairs.

Habitat for Humanity of South Hampton Roads (HSHR) is proud to take part in a special community event on Tuesday, June 5 in Suffolk from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. (address is 224 E. Pinner Street).

A collection of volunteers from HSHR, Home Depot, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the Hampton Roads REALTORS Association (HRRA) will come together to repair the home of Carrie Caldwell, a Gold Star mother who lost her son during Operation Desert Storm.
