At long last, a restroom you might actually consider “resting” in.
Cintas, a company that specializes in restrooms, opened its polls for the 13th edition of America’s Best Restroom. On Wednesday, Cintas awarded the restroom located inside the lush, Philadelphia-based Longwood Gardens, the top prize.
The Longwood Gardens was picked among 10 finalists after months of voting.
According to Cintras, Longwood Gardens is the most-visited public garden in America (1 million annual visitors), and we can only imagine it’s because of the astoundingly beautiful public restrooms.
Kim Wilkie was the artist behind the break-through restroom design. She was brought in by Longwood Gardens in 2010 to spruce up the place.
There are 17 restrooms accessible in the Gardens via the indoor greenhouse called the “Green Wall.” Lavatory cabinets are domed and naturally-lit within the wall. According to Cintras’ contest page: “Each restroom contains etched translucent glass at the top of the dome to provide natural light, reduce electricity and minimize the need for light fixtures.”
Last year’s top prize was given to one of Minneapolis’ last-standing vaudeville houses called Varsity Theater.
