Addie Thomason Selected as 2015 “Women in Business” Honoree by Inside Business

Virginia Beach, VA – Addie Thomason, CEO and president of the Virginia Beach Community Development Corporation (VBCDC) and Second Act Communities, was selected by Inside Business, the Hampton Roads Business Journal, as a “2015 Women in Business” honoree.

For 13 years, Inside Business has recognized women in business who have not only made a significant impact on their community and their industry but who also empower other women to the do the same. This year, a team of judges selected 15 women to be honored.

Addie is devoted to her professional career and works tirelessly, acting as a champion for those she calls “the least, the last and the lost.” She strives to increase the number of affordable homes across Hampton Roads and serve the community in new, innovative ways.

Additionally, Addie has served on more than 40 boards of directors and special event task forces in North Carolina, Illinois and Virginia. She is a board member of Virginia Beach Vision and president of the African American Culture Center Board of Directors.

Addie previously served as the executive vice president of the Chicago Housing Authority, the third largest authority in the United States. She is an alumna of Duke University and the University of North Carolina School of Law at Chapel Hill. She is also an ordained former pastor.
