ACCESS College Foundation Celebrates 30 Years Helping High School Seniors Achieve Their Higher Education Dreams

October 22, 2018 (Norfolk, Va.) – To celebrate three decades of guiding 60,000+
students from South Hampton Roads and Northampton County through the college
application process, ACCESS College Foundation is holding a 30th Anniversary
Gala.

Details: Hosted by Emmy-nominated TV host, April Woodard of WTKR’s Coast Live,
nearly 500 business leaders and community members will enjoy cocktails, dinner
and a multimedia experience of ACCESS’ transformative impact on the communities
of South Hampton Roads and Northampton County.

Speakers: Gerald L. Baliles served as the 65th Governor of the Commonwealth of
Virginia (1986-90) and was present at ACCESS’ first press conference in 1988. He
served as Attorney General (1982-85) and as a member of the Virginia House of
Delegates (1976-82). After leaving public office, he became a partner at the law firm
Hunton & Williams, LLP. Baliles holds a Bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University
and a J.D. from the University of Virginia Law School. Dr. Melody S. Williams, an
Access Alumna, is an assistant professor at Norfolk State University and founder of a
nonprofit training and mentorship organization, The Dreams Institute. Dr. Williams
earned her Bachelors degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and her
Masters and PhD from Old Dominion University. She is currently pursuing a Doctor
of Ministry at Virginia Union University.
