FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Virginia Beach, Va. – The 20th annual India Fest, hosted by the Asian Indians of Hampton Roads (AIHR), will take place at the Virginia Beach Convention Center on Saturday, Nov. 14 from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. The event is expected to draw 10,000 or more attendees.
Admission and parking at India Fest is free and includes Bollywood dance performances, fashion shows, and an Indian bazaar with clothing, jewelry and other vendors. Children can participate in essay writing, poetry, art and science competitions; more information about these contests can be found at www.aihr.org. The AIHR will also be raffling off four iPads at the event.
The official India Fest food partner is Nawab Indian Cuisine, and others such as India Palace and Saffron Indian Bistro will sell food as well. The AIHR will provide free samples of Indian cuisine at various times throughout the day.
“Of course, the local Indian population looks forward to this event each year,” says AIHR President Himangshu Dey. “But we get a tremendous amount of support from all different demographics throughout Hampton Roads. It’s a great opportunity for us to expose our culture to others.”
This year, India Fest will introduce NETCON in partnership with the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce. NETCON is an exclusive business development lounge that will include a complimentary lunch, a Bollywood performance and a keynote speaker. It is open by invitation-only to India Fest sponsors and partners; others may purchase tickets for $150 per person.
India Fest is AIHR’s signature annual event, and proceeds benefit local and national charities and disaster relief programs. AIHR is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and all donations are tax deductible.
India Fest is sponsored by TowneBank, Farmers Insurance, Old Dominion University, Soles Realty, Chesapeake Service Systems and the Hatwar family, among others. For more information about the 2015 India Fest event, visit www.aihr.org or contact AIHR at aihr.va@gmail.com or (757) 609-0016.
