Join the DAV 5K to Honor Veterans This November

Registration is now open

Cold Spring, Ky. (For Immediate Release) – DAV (Disabled American Veterans) announced today that registration is open for its 2017 DAV 5K National Race Series in the following host cities: Atlanta; Boston; Cincinnati; San Antonio; Newport News, Virginia; and Tulsa, Oklahoma. The DAV 5K is a run, walk, roll and motorcycle ride that thanks those who served and raises awareness of the issues our ill and injured veterans face every day.

Registration for all events is now open at www.DAV5K.org.

“We are pleased to host the DAV 5K National Race Series to honor veterans in six great American cities this year,” said DAV National Adjutant and CEO Marc Burgess. “These cities share a remarkable history in supporting America’s heroes and we look forward to celebrating Veteran’s Day by honoring our service men and women with the friends and family that support them.”

The 2017 DAV 5K schedule and dates include (in chronological order):

  • San Antonio: November 4, 2017, Alamo Beer Company
  • Tulsa: November 4, 2017, Guthrie Green
  • Newport News: November 5, 2017, Oyster Point, City Center
  • Cincinnati: November 11, 2017, Sawyer Point
  • Boston: November 11, 2017, Castle Island
  • Atlanta: November 11, 2017, Piedmont Park

 

All veterans, active-duty service members, reservists, National Guard and ROTC or service academy cadets are eligible for exclusive benefits on race day, including a free registration. For only $15, veterans will receive a custom branch-of-service race shirt (if registered by Oct. 15), a commemorative medal and an invitation to the post-party. Veterans may also participate in the DAV 5K using a wheelchair or hand cycle.

Registration costs are $30 for adults and motorcycle riders and $15 for youth 6-17 and includes a race shirt, race bib, and timing chip. This year, there is also a Virtual Race registration at $40 where participants can run or walk wherever convenient. The DAV 5K is open to individual runners, walkers and motorcycles as well as groups who wish to form a team.
