India Fest returns to the Va. Beach Convention Center Nov. 11

Virginia Beach, Va. – The 22nd annual India Fest, hosted by local nonprofit group, the Asian Indians of Hampton Roads (AIHR), will take place at the Virginia Beach Convention Center on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. The free event draws more than 10,000 attendees each year and proceeds from sponsorships benefit various charities and disaster relief programs.

India Fest features all-day activities and entertainment, including Bollywood dance performances, yoga demos, and an Indian bazaar with clothing, jewelry and other vendors. Children can participate in essay writing, poetry, art and Lego competitions and more; more information about these contests can be found at www.aihr.org.

The official India Fest food partner is locally-owned Nawab Indian Cuisine. AIHR will provide free samples of Indian cuisine at various times throughout the day. Attendees are also encouraged to bring canned food donations, which will benefit the Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia.

“Of course, the local Indian population looks forward to this event each year,” says AIHR President Himangshu Dey. “But we get a tremendous amount of support from all different demographics throughout Hampton Roads. It’s a great opportunity for us to expose our culture to others.”

This year, NETCON will return for the third time in partnership with the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce (HRCC), Asian Business Association of Hampton Roads (ABAHR) and Norfolk Sister Cities Associations (NSCA). NETCON is an exclusive business development lounge that will include a complimentary lunch, keynote speaker and networking. It is open by invitation-only to India Fest sponsors and partners; others may donate $200 to AIHR and attend NETCON.

India Fest is sponsored by TowneBank, Old Dominion University, World Financial Group, Soles Realty, Chesapeake Service Systems and the Hatwar family, among others. AIHR is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and all sponsorships are tax deductible. For more information about the 2017 India Fest event, visit www.aihr.org.
