Hampton Roads Beer Fest Brings Brew to the Zoo

Norfolk, Va. – Drink the District is pleased to announce a new local event – the Hampton Roads Beer Fest, scheduled for Saturday, April 4 at the Virginia Zoo (3500 Granby Street, Norfolk).

The event includes an afternoon session from 1 – 4 p.m. and an evening session from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. Attendees can enjoy over 100 beers and ciders, along with dueling piano entertainment, backyard games and the area’s best food trucks. Local participating breweries include O’Connor, Smartmouth, Young Veterans, Back Bay, AleWerks and St. George.

Since 2011, Drink the District has orchestrated more than a dozen events in the Washington, D.C. metro area, attracting young, energetic crowds. This is the company’s first foray into Hampton Roads, with plans in mind for future local events.

“The beer industry in Hampton Roads has really exploded in the last few years, and we’re excited to be a part of it,” says Drink the District co-founder Steuart Martens, who appeared on NBC’s 10th season of The Apprentice in 2010. “Our goal for the Hampton Roads Beer Fest is to create a relaxed social event for locals to taste a variety of beers in our unique surroundings at the zoo.”
