In late January 2022, we were pleased to work with Inside Business to coordinate an interview with Joe Harrow, Virginia president of Towne Insurance, regarding a new law for minimum car insurance coverage.
The law went into effect on January 1.

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Celebrating 60 years, Chesapeake and state leaders cut the ribbon on the start of a big expansion project in South Norfolk.

“Because you are in the South Norfolk tiff, the tax increment financing district with this investment, [the] investment you make here will make way for further investment, capital investment,” said Del. Cliff Hayes.

Plasser American Corporation is an industrial equipment supplier. The company provides railway inspection and railway repair vehicle services. Plasser American also has a first-of-its-kind training program that enables apprentices to gain hands-on experience while studying at Tidewater Community College. (more…)

On December 2 at 10 a.m., Plasser American Corporation will dedicate a 45,000 square foot, three-story office building, the first structure in a comprehensive $52.6-million expansion of its North American headquarters and manufacturing center at their location in Chesapeake’s South Norfolk community.

The balance of the project will include a new 82,000-square-foot manufacturing facility to double production capacity and purchase more equipment, including an updated industrial paint booth. Because of the growth, Plasser American will add 98 new jobs to its current workforce of just over 300 employees. (more…)

Robinson, a director of teams for the Richmond-based produce delivery service, began her relationship with the company as a consumer. She found a promo code online and became a member with the company.

Since November 19, thousands of vehicles have been traveling down the Virginia Beach Boardwalk each evening, their occupants enjoying dozens of holiday, nautical, and adventure-themed light displays. But the 2021 BayPort Credit Union Holiday Lights at the Beach has a new twist this year. One of the displays is powered by a small wind turbine, to remind guests that by 2026, there will be nearly 180 towers, each 800 feet tall, located 27 miles off the coast, generating enough clean renewable energy for 660,000 homes on land. There will be a second wind farm off Kitty Hawk, NC, to be developed by Avangrid Renewables. (more…)

“We don’t get a new industry in this region very often,” Joel Rubin, CEO of Rubin Communications, said. “Here’s one that’s coming that I think we really need to understand, appreciate, take advantage of and let it really drive our culture.”

Well-versed in the market for 45 years, Rubin helped create the WINDSdays campaign to build awareness and enthusiasm for the power of wind, clean energy and a green environment in Virginia Beach and all of Hampton Roads. Rubin is part of the Virginia Beach Mayor’s Commission on Offshore Wind and Clean Energy, where the campaign originated, and was hired by Dominion Energy to help promote offshore wind in the region.
