This year, Norfolk resident, Crystal Partain and her pit bull, Pixie, will be competing, something Crystal couldn’t have imagined four years ago. At that time, Crystal had rescued Pixie from an animal shelter right before she was about to be euthanized.

“We attended the Pet Lovers’ Extravaganza shortly after I adopted Pixie and she didn’t take her eyes off of the pool,” said Crystal. “From that day, I knew she was destined to be a DockDog. She’s received two invitations to the DockDog World Championships since then and we’re hoping she’ll beat her personal record this year.”

As part of Care-A-Lot’s partnership with the Norfolk and Peninsula SPCA, every adopted dog receives a starter package of food, supplies and coupons valued at over $200.
